Free Energy Technologies
Free Energy Technologies or new energy technologies are names used to refer to a diverse group of non-fuel-dependant technologies that do not consume a substance in order to produce energy. This definition applies to both conventional and unconventional forms of renewable energy, including Solar Power, Wind Power and hydro-electric power, to relatively little known such as low-energy nuclear reactions, zero point or magnetic energy. Still at the anvil of research, these technologies represent new ways of utilizing chemical, nuclear or other forms of energy locked up in the generating system’s component parts. Some claim to harness the energy from the zero-point fluctuations of the vacuum, which is also known as the background or ether energy of the universe.
 The Rationale
People often describe Free Energy machines as perpetual motion machines. This *is not strictly accurate. However, very simply put, the concept of free energy has its roots in the principles of Quantum Mechanics, according to which it is the vibration of particles that determines their mass and energy. Knowing that E = mc2, we can see that a tremendous amount of energy is needed to create any form of matter. Free Energy theorists believe that this infinite amount of energy is waiting to be tapped by mankind.
According to the law of conservation of energy, one cannot extract more energy than one puts into a system. But if one takes the example of a solar panel, one can derive electricity from it without physically putting any in (since the input energy comes from the sun). Similarly, instead of a solar panel, one could have a device that absorbs some of the energy which Quantum Mechanics observes (ie, energy from the infinite numbers of vibrating particles that make up matter), and releases it in the form of usable free energy.
 Types of Free Energy Technologies
Scientists, companies and research organizations have developed a range of technologies that produce energy directly from the components or their interactions with one another. They may be differentiated on the scientific principles they are based upon.
The most developed involve harnessing conventional sources of renewable power – solar, wind, hydro and wave. Since these sources of energy are practically limitless, and do not get consumed as they release energy, they are the best and the most easily available sources of free energy.
Other than these conventional Free Energy sources, scientists and inventors have developed three basic types of machines – Dynamic, Solid State and Hybrid.
Dynamic Free Energy generators are non-inductive, which means they harness energy from the space around them. These technologies usually use magnetic or electro magnetic fields to create energy. One of the latest technologies developed uses very powerful permanent magnets and a rotating motor. Scientists have found that even when the motor rotates, the magnetic flux patterns around the rotor stay the same, thus creating a stable interaction with space energy.
Solid State Free Energy machines do not usually produce completely free energy, but they can amplify small amounts of energy generated through conventional means. Dr Henry de Moray was the first to use solid state technology to generate 30 kilowatts of energy from a 9 volt battery.
Hybrid Free Energy machines like the Swiss Converter use an electrostatic slow spinning disc to generate a high voltage output. The input current is zero, and the output current is 3000-4000 watts. The speed that the electrostatic disc spins at, is only 30 rpm.
 Practical applications
Some Free Energy Technologies may be easily incorporated into our present power generation systems to optimize electricity outputs and produce cleaner and cheaper electricity. The Lutec Electricity Amplifier (LEA) is an example. This device consists of a pulsed direct current (DC) motor and an alternating current (AC) generator, which both use the same fixed coil to perform their independent functions. The interaction between the two separate processes on the same coil creates energy (for technical details on how this technology works, go to Lutec).
The beauty of the technology is that it may be used to amplify power outputs in existing or new electricity stations. It could also be applied in water desalination, hydrogen production, developing efficient motors for plants, pumps and machinery, or as a more efficient and cost effective driver for anything that turns spins or rotates. It has been patented in USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Russia, Africa, Poland, China, South Africa and many other countries.
Stumbling Blocks in the Path of Non Conventional Free Energy Technologies
Free Energy Technology believers allege that many of their patents have just been buried under paperwork by oil interests and the government’s “national security” interests. Government scientists on the other hand, refute this by saying that there is a lack of adequate proof that the non-conventional energy technologies actually work, and not enough understanding about how they actually do so. The fact that many scientists still consider many Free Energy Technologies to be in the realm of science fiction, is their single biggest stumbling block.
Most of the Free Energy devices that have been patented are still pretty much in the experimental stages, and their output modes are not strictly controlled. Without a stable and controlled output, few investors are willing to back, what could possibly mean years of empirical research before the technology becomes marketable.
Nikola Tesla and his Mystery Car
The story goes that Nikola Tesla, the inventor of alternating current and an electronics genius, bought a Pierce-Arrow touring car from the company factory in Buffalo, New York in the summer of 1931. A holder of over 1200 U.S. patents, Tesla installed a mystery box on the car’s front seat. The box had an antenna and two quarter inch metal rods. Then, along with his nephew Peter Savo, he inserted the metal rods into the box and announced: “now we have power!”
The duo proceeded to drive the car for a week without petrol. It is said he even used that mystery box to light up his house. After that week, Tesla is reputed to have removed the box without disclosing to a soul how he had actually run his car using it. A few months later, Pierce Arrow had to stop production because of the economic crisis at the time. The company was taken over by Studebaker, and soon Tesla’s mystery car experiment was forgotten.
What was in that box? Did Tesla actually develop a power source good enough to run his car on and power his house with? No one knows the answers to these questions, or indeed whether this story is true or is just another urban legend. Free Energy researchers speculate he might have found a way to tap the earth's magnetic field or perhaps even more exotically, zero point energy or gravitation waves.
Skeptics point out Tesla might have been an unparalleled genius when it came to understanding electromagnetism, he did die a pauper, without seeing any of his inventions see commercial success during his lifetime.
