A seed is a ripened plant ovule containing an embryo. Seeds have high concentrations of nutrients such as starches, proteins, and fats and are used in their existing conditions or as feed for animals. Rapeseed, cottonseed, and sunflower seed are also produced for the oils (fats) they yield.
