How do I format my own article?

  • To make sub-headings within the text, select text and press A, the fourth icon in the tool box above.


  • To create subdivisions under the sub-headings, frame the title with three equal signs on each side eg: === sub-sub heading ===.


  • It is preferable to break the article down into short paragraphs with a clearly indicative heading rather than large pieces of prose. Paragraphing with headers enables greater reader clarity and comprehension.


  • Select text and press B and I respectively for getting Bold and Italic in text.


  • Mark out important sentences, or sentences that lead to the next paragraph in the previous one in bold outlines.


  • Italicise any foreign language words


  • To give hyperlinks-- links that lead to other pages on the site, either use plain brackets twice [[ ]] before and after the selected to text. The user can also select the text and click on the third icon Ab in the tool box at the top of the editing page.


  • To make bullets, click on enter, and press * without leaving any space in between. Or press “Shift+8” on your keyboard. Repeat the process for getting more bullet points

Do use bullets wherever possible. It makes writing quicker, and more crisp and reading much easier.


  • For numbering you points click on enter and then press #, the symbol written above the number 3 on you keyboard. To repeat the process, click enter and then press #.

  • Add References at the end of each article. Do mumber your references


  • Add Category to each article.• To categorise your article write "Category: name of Category" and after selecting this, press the third icon in the tool box to give hyperlink. If the matter can fall under two categories -- for example if the topic it is relevant both under Culture and under Arts, then after writing , press enter and repeat the process --.


  • To save you work, click on the Save Page icon at the bottom of the edit page.


Important Do’s and don’ts of uploading an article


  • Do not leave a space between the first word of the para and the margin as the text then appears in a strange border.
  • Please DO NOT begin your paragraphs with a "tab" or "indent".
  • Leave a line space after each paragraph.
  • Para breaks should be indicated with a line space. Do not use "tab" or “indent.
  • Please give a line space after each paragraph, or else the text will appear as run-on text, without any breaks all through the copy.
  • Do not use the link UPLOAD FILE under TOOLBOX (on the left-hand side on page), as that is only for uploading images.
