Hi,

Was the Devdasi/Yellamma sect a cult following? Was there an element of choice at any point of time -- were daughters of a devdasis not expected to become devdasis?

Were the non Yellamma devdasis from some particular castes or could even Brahmin and other caste women opt to become a Devdasi?
