Each British household produces over 1 tonne of waste annually, amounting to about 31 million tonnes in a year. People in the UK throw away their own body weight in rubbish every seven weeks. The average is about 73 kg per person.

[edit] Let's all of us take initiative on this!

If we all segregated our household waste and composted the biodegradable component, we would be able to significantly reduce what goes into our landfills. I'm going to start collecting kitchen waste in perforated earthen pots, and see how long it takes to turn into compost...wait for my updates!!
