Whether darkening your screen helps reduce power consumption is quickly turning into an urban legend. It seems logocal that they would... after all lighting up a pixel would consume more power than not doing so... right? Am not sure. I think most of the benefits accrue from what Blackle represents than what Blackle does...

And most benefits would be accrued to the old power crunching CRT than the modern LCD/TFT monitor. And some of the clains on power consumption are startling at best.
