Animal Welfare as a concept refers to the respect that all animals deserve from man, the recognition that man and animal both share the same habitat. According to a 2007 American Farm Bureau survey, 68 percent of Americans polled think the government should take an active role in promoting the welfare of farm animals.

Animal Welfare aims at increasing the quality of life for animals; providing all animals - wild, domestic, exotic - the care, treatment and protection they deserve; and ensuring their humane treatment by factories, laboratories and other man made institutions.
