The cholesterol in cookies is not much. But note the high fat content of cookies, that is equally bad for your health. Most of the cookies contain trans-fatty acids (hydrogenated fats), which is even worse than the cholesterol and is also responsible for high cholesterol and high triglyceride levels. [edit] Tips for making cookies

  • Use only the freshest ingredients.
  • Large eggs are the standard eggs used.
  • Try not to use substitute fats. If the recipe calls for butter, use butter.
  • Make sure you measure your ingredients properly.
  • Keep the dough chilled in between baking batches of cookies.
  • Cool your cookie sheets by running tepid water over the back of them.

  • Cool the baked cookies completely before freezing.
  • Separate cookies by recipe, but if you can't, separate the crispy cookies from the soft ones for storage.
  • Use airtight containers; don't use cardboard containers because they pick up freezer odors.
  • First put a piece of waxed paper or foil in the bottom of the container. *Then, place the cookies so they aren't touching and separate the layers with waxed paper or foil to protect. Seal tightly.
  • Thaw cookies in their original container at room temperature so that condensation forms on the wrapping, not on the cookie.
