Phytonutrients

The term "phyto" originated from a Greek word meaning plant. Phytonutrients are certain organic components of plants which are thought to promote human health. Fruit, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts and tea are rich sources of phytonutrients. Unlike the traditional nutrients (proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals), phytonutrients are not "essential" for life, but they certainly do make a difference to its quality.
