Talk:Reading Food Labels
From CopperWiki
Here is an interesting way to find out the amount of Trans-Fatty Acid in packaged food by using the new U.S. labels:
Find the amount of "Total Fat" on the label.
Find the amounts of "Saturated Fat", "Polyunsaturated Fat" and "Monosaturated Fat". (These are found on the label, listed directly under "Total Fat" and slightly indented. If one or the other is not listed, that particular food does not contain it.)
Add these three together. If there are only two listed, add them together or use one amount if only one is listed.
Subtract the total amount of #3 from the amount of #1.
The answer is the amount of Trans-fatty Acid in that product.
